te crippl&039;d of an ar, and now a leg,

about to beg a pass for leave to beg;

dull, listless, teas&039;d, dejected, and deprest

(nature is adverse to a cripple&039;s rest);

will nero graha list to his poet&039;s wail?

(it othes poor isery, hearkeng to her tale)

and hear hi curse the light he first survey&039;d,

and doubly curse the ckless rhyg trade?

thou, nature! partial nature, i arraign;

of thy caprice aternal i p;

the lion and the bull thy care have found,

one shakes the forests, and one spurns the ground;

thou giv&039;st the ass his hide, the snail his shell;

th&039; enveno&039;d wasp, victorio, guards his cell;

thy ions kgs defend, ntrol, devour,

all th&039; onipotence of rule and power;

foxes and statesn subtile wiles ensure;

the cit and polecat stk, and are secure;

toads with their poin, doctors with their drug,

the priest and hedhog their robes, are snug;

ev&039;n silly woan has her warlike arts,

her tongue and eyes—her dreaded spear and darts

but oh! thou bitter step-other and hard,

to thy poor, fenceless, naked child—the bard!
